All positions in the club are filled by volunteers. We would love to have you get involved in some small way. That's how we all started out. If you feel shy, ask a friend to work with you - helping out at the Crossroads Garden, organizing food for our Christmas Party, labeling bags for the perennial order, there are many ways you can help.

We will be offering a hypertufa workshop this fall - stay tuned for more info.
In February, we will spend an afternoon with Niki Jabbour as she explains everything we need to know about creating a "potager garden" (kitchen garden). Folks are starting to give a lot more thought to where their food comes from, the methods used to produce it, and how much fuel is burnt in transporting it.... well, even in a very small space, you can grow a huge amount of food! Learn how to site a potager garden, plan the space, choose the varieties and growing methods that will work best. Learn how to "grow up" :) and how to plant for succession crops of greens and herbs. Choose the right veggies for your needs and your growning season. Then reap the rewards next season!! This workshop will be held on a Sunday afternoon in February. There will be free seed catalogs and some free seeds. If you are interested in hearing more about this event, contact Paula at teamwork@hfx.eastlink.ca fee schedule and date To Be Announced.

During my time as President, I hope to investigate ways to plant "gardening seeds" in our community of young people. This might involve the local library, or one of the schools, or both. If you have ideas, skill in gardening, time to share or a child who is interested in growing.....I think we could work together to create a morning event, probably next spring. The winter is a perfect time to start planning.

If you have something to share, give away, sell, etc. please post it here. (for instance, a few perennials you've divided, baby maple trees, extra digging fork, some pieces of timber, extra flagstones from a project...) whatever you want to get rid of.
If you post your e-mail address here for people to contact you, leave out the "@" symbol and type "at" This goes a long way in the prevention of spam. The person responding simply types in the @ when they actually write back.
PLEASE garden/landscape/plant related items ONLY in this section

We'd love to hear about a wonderful garden you spent time in. It could be private or public. If was a private garden, please don't use the last name of the person who owns it, perhaps just the first name and the part of the world it was in...unless you have that person's permission to use more info.

If you would like to keep an eye on the FORUM without always typing in the whole web address and clicking on "forum" you can make a shortcut to come directly here. (this should work for most users) While on this page you are reading now, move the cursor to the side of the page, "right-click" with your mouse and select "create short-cut" and you will get a prompt that says "do you want to create a short-cut..etc.) just click "yes" To post to the forum you will still have to sign in, but it will be a lot quicker. If you have questions, please let me know...
